Causerie (French Talking)

The Club currently has five “Causeries” – informal French conversation groups.

These are based in Lupiac, Condom, Vic Fezensac, Nogaro and Mirande.

The Causeries give members an opportunity to practise their conversational skills, primarily in French, but also in English for our French members, in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

The groups meet, usually once a month, in each other’s homes.

Each Causerie has a native French speaker to help explain finer points and support language learning.  Thus everyone is encouraged to speak French at their own level in a safe and friendly environment.

It’s not about giving lessons or correcting, but encouraging free speech in a structured way.

Some groups end their meeting with an “Auberge Espagnole” – a bring and share lunch, while in others, the host simply provides mid-morning refreshments.

Further expansion will be dependent on identifying more French speakers in new locations
